What We have Done

The Whittier Community Foundation was created in 2005 with a mission to support community services activities from the education and enjoyment of the greater Whittier community.

We raise funds year round through special events such as Dancing with the Whittier Stars, the Spooktacular 5K Walk/Run and our newest fund raiser the Whittier Car Show held at Parnell Park. We have formed valuable relationships with organizations including the Whittier Host Lions Club and PIH Health as well as businesses and individuals.

To date we have raised over $600,000 through private donations, grants and fundraisers. We are proud to have given back to our community in the following ways:


2010 Donated “Duke”, a miniature horse to the Parnell Park Zoo.
2011 Raised funds, designed and installed the Whittier Police Memorial in front of Police Station.
2012 Installed new floor at the Whittier Community Center Theatre.
2012 Installed 12 fitness stations of exercise equipment along the Greenway Trail along with Fit Facts Signs that share healthy living tips.
2013 Donated “Dinosaur Bones” play equipment to Michigan Park.
2013 Donated an inflatable 28-foot outdoor movie screen and speaker systems for summer movies in park.
2013 Raised funds for the first off-leash dog park in Whittier.
2013 Parnell Park Zoo horse trailer and supplies for emergency transportation of animals and purchase of two Alpacas
2014 Michigan Park "Dinosaur"
2014 Supported City's application to All American Cities
2014 Partnered with KaBOOM! to revitalize the playground at Kennedy Park (Video)
2015 Donated a security camera to the Whittier Police Department.
2015 Raised funds to upgrade the lighting in the Whittier Community Center Theatre.
2015 Donated an emergency trailer for usage in case of disasters.
2016 Partnered with KaBOOM! to revitalize the playground at York Field.
2016 Funded the Friday Forum Youth program for teens.
2016 Installed 12 fitness stations at Michigan Park.
